About

I’m Abubakar Siddiq Ango — a Senior Developer Advocate, platform engineer, and community builder based in Rotterdam, Netherlands. I’ve spent the last 9+ years helping developers succeed with complex infrastructure, and I’m happiest when I’m making hard things easier for other people.

Right now I’m at Kubermatic, where I’m building the Developer Relations function from scratch for their open-source Kubernetes management platform. Before that, I spent nearly a decade at GitLab — first as a Support Engineer (where I became the first team member to specialize in Kubernetes), then as a Developer Advocacy Program Manager driving cloud-native integrations and DevSecOps enablement.

What I Do

My work lives at the intersection of infrastructure, advocacy, and education. I write, speak, build tools, and create content that helps developers navigate cloud native technology. I’ve spoken at KubeCon, HashiConf EU, Open Source Summit, and dozens of community events across EMEA and Africa.

I’m a Google Developer Expert (Cloud) and the founder of Kubernetes Community Days Africa.

Beyond Work

I founded UpliftHub, a non-profit in Bauchi, Nigeria that mentored 100+ individuals and trained 500+ high school students in technology skills. Building inclusive, accessible tech communities is something I care deeply about — whether that’s through the Inclusive Naming Initiative, organizing Kubernetes Community Days in Africa, or mentoring the next generation of engineers.

When I’m not working, you’ll find me tinkering with my homelab, vibe coding side projects, or over-engineering solutions to problems that don’t need solving.
